3 Hour Work Cycle

Walk into any authentic Montessori classroom and you will see children completely engaged in their work.

One of the most important components of Montessori method is the uninterrupted three-hour work cycle. We incorporate the three-hour work cycle in our schedule at Villa Di Maria Montessori. The early childhood education focuses on concentration, coordination, order, and independence. Therefore, children must be given the time they need to fully submerge themselves in their work in order for these traits to manifest.

Some of the outcomes of the three-hour work cycle are: deeper concentration, satisfaction with the completion of the work, desire to learn through the materials, excitement about and focus on the work. This active learning environment results in children taking joy in their work.
