A Day at the Courthouse: Montessori Learning in Action

Our students recently had the opportunity to step beyond the classroom and experience learning in a truly meaningful way through a visit to the Fort Bend County Precinct 3 courthouse.

During their visit, the children met Judge Sonia Rash and explored the courtroom, where they observed firsthand how decisions are made and how rules help guide a community. Sitting in the judge’s chair, holding the gavel, and asking thoughtful questions, the students engaged with their surroundings with curiosity and confidence.

The visit extended beyond the courtroom into the judge’s office, where students were introduced to the idea of leadership, responsibility, and service. They listened attentively, observed respectfully, and demonstrated the grace and courtesy that are central to the Montessori environment.

Experiences like these bring learning to life. By connecting classroom concepts to the real world, our students begin to understand their place within a larger community. It is through these moments that children develop not only knowledge, but also a deeper sense of awareness, respect, and purpose.

We are grateful to Judge Rash for welcoming our students and making this experience both memorable and meaningful.
